As you know, youtube is adding an A.I that’ll use the videos you watch to determine your age.
This’ll most likely result in you being falsely flagged at the wrong age depending on what you watch, so thinks like Object Shows, Roblox, Minecraft, ect. can get you falsely marked as underage.
This in and of itself wouldn’t be an issue, youtube’s algorithm works with a similar premise, it browses over what you engage with and recommends you more of that thing. The problem arises with how they want you to get rid of this age assuming AI.
YouTube wants you to upload an ID to disable to age verification AI, which is basically giving Youtube your personal information on a silver platter. This is not just affecting youtube, rockstar ALSO wants an ID and a photo of yourself to verify your age to play Gta 6.
You are likely wondering what not using youtube will do for the situation, and here’s a simple explanation:
Youtube makes money off of ads which are given to viewers of the platform, companies pay them to put sponsorships in videos/shorts.
Youtube Premium is also how they make money, its a subscription. Theres other methods ,too: (superchat, “thanks”, channel memberships, ect.)
If enough people cancel their youtube Premium subscriptions and stop using it, their profits will go down as they aren’t getting revenue from viewers. Over time this’ll start impacting the platform as running a site as big as youtube has its costs.
They are a corporation, but they will act once their money starts taking blows. Uninstall youtube, use extensions that’ll block the website from being opened, anything to prevent yourself from using it.
There’s multiple things you could do instead of youtube, play roblox or minecraft or anything you want, go on twitch and watch a streamer, watch cable tv, do some chores around the house, use another platform to listen to music, anything. There’s plenty of things to do.
