INTRODUCTION

Hello again everyone! Today we are back with another phobia! Today we are covering Astraphobia, which is, in short, the fear of thunderstorms. I personally do not have this fear, but there are many who do. Plus, you all voted for this one. Anyway, lets get into the History of this fear.

HISTORY

The term “Astraphobia” was first coined in the 1870s, as records show. The name comes from the greek word for lighting, “astrape”, and the greek word for fe-

you all know the greek word for fear already. Anyway, this phobia can be spread from a family member to you, or it can just show up on its own with no reason. But usually, a traumatic experience with a thunderstorm is what causes this fear.

symptoms of this phobia can include many things. Some things are shared with other phobias. Symptoms include the following:

• Trembling
• Crying
• Sweating
• Panic Attacks
• Nausea
• A feeling of dread
• Insertion of fingers in ears
• Rapid Heartbeat
• Seeking reassurance from other people
